Description: I am offering an 1857 Cottager's Family Bible and Commentary by the Rev. James Woods. This large antique Bible was purchased on the Isle of Man over 50 years ago after it had been professionally refurbished. The refurbishment was as follows: "Front cover separated: Reattached with buckram sheet glued to spine, sewn in and dovetailed on one side under leather on cover and on the other let into the separated board; gussets of kid inserted to heal broken edge and at top and bottom of spine; cleaned and oiled. Ballasalla, Isle of Man". (See picture) The Bible measures 16" long by 10" wide by 3" deep. It has an encised leather cover, gold edge pages which are in very good condition (no tears), minor occasional page discoloration and some cover roughness. A very nice Bible for its 175 years.
