Description: For sale is an awesome 1883 "no cents" Liberty "V" Nickel. The Liberty "V" Nickel ran from 1883 to 1912 before being replaced by the Buffalo Nickel. 1883 was the very first mint year of the Liberty Nickel and there were two varieties minted: the "no cents" variety and the "with cents" variety. This first version of the coin did not have the word "cents" anywhere on the coin. Because the coin didn't say "Five Cents" anywhere on the coin people would plate the coins with gold and pass them off as $ 5.00 gold coins. To remedy this the mint created a second version of the coin which added the word "cents" on the reverse. This coin in the "no cents" variety. As you can see from the pics the coin is in amazing shape, and it would come in at an awesome AU (almost uncirculated) grade, which is so tough to find these coins in because they were so heavily circulated. All the details on the coin are nice and sharp, including every letter of LIBERTY on the obverse, which is the first thing to wear down on these coins. The still actually has some of its original Mint luster to it. and it has no major damage and has not been cleaned. I do have multiple coins available in the exact same grade and condition if you were interested in buying more than one. I always give discounts for multiple quantities and always combine shipping. If you buy only one you will receive the coin in the pics. This is a great key date coin pair with great history behind it. Please feel free to email me with questions or interest. Thanks!
