Description: 1942 Original WWII U.S. ARMY FLEXIBLE LOOP BAIL FRONT SEAM HELMET WW2. Why is it an early helmet? I read the steel McCord serial as 257B, which would be made in mid 1942 production. The chin strap are likely post war. It has a stainless steel band with front seam. Some typical stress cracks on the back and side of the helmet. The crack on the side is more severe please look at pictures.The flexible loop where probably modified as many helmet were at one point in time.Good cork finish and paint. Very little rust.
