BSV started in 1966 reprinting some Marvel titles in black & white and in non-chronological order. 153 books names HIT COMICS were published. At the end of that run some titles were also issued in colour, but not for long and publishing stopped in 1973. WILLIAMS was, one year later in 1974, the first publisher to reprint the original US books in COLOUR and in CHRONOLOGICAL order, the main important series were: Amazing Spider-Man = Die Spinne 1 - 137Fantastic Four = Die Fantastischen Vier 1 - 124The Avengers = Die (ruhmreichen) Rächer 1 - 100Hulk/Tales to Astonish = Hulk 1 - 33Thor/Journey into Mystery = Thor 1 - 33Iron Man/Tales of Suspense = Der Eiserne 1 - 12Doctor Strange (from # 169-180) = Doktor Strange 1 - 12 Green Lantern = Die Grüne Laterne 1 - 12 Tomb of Dracula = Dracula 1 - 33Frankenstein = Frankenstein 1 - 33 These publications stopped in 1979, the longest running series were ASM (Die Spinne) and FF (Die Fantastischen Vier). The fact that these books were the first coloured versions in chronological order make them the "real" collector's items you should look out for. But there are several reasons why these books are very hard to find in higher grades; 1) The PAPER QUALITY : was not the best, which could result in fast yellowing of the pages, and sides and edges were quite delicate. 2) The DISTRIBUTION : The Comics were sent to certain federal states and then the returns were sent to other states. This could happen 3 - 4 times (!), so once these books arrived in some shops they were unfortunately allready not in "near mint" condition anymore. 3) The CULTURAL SURROUNDINGS : These books were at the time considered in Germany as "Schundliteratur", meaning "trashy literature". Parents nearly allways disapproved of buying and reading this kind of "literature". 4) In consequence the habit of STORING COMIC BOOKS was absolutely not common in Germany at the time. There was no easy access to plastic sleeves and boards, so in general comic books were just stored somewhere in a youth's room. 5) The PRINT RUN : was far lower than the one of the US counterparts. So it is a bid of a miracle that I can offer you now a large number of books in really high grades, many of them are the highest graded books worldwide according to the CGC census (TOP POP). Please have a look at my other offers and at my private web page and feel free to contact me. registered shipping worldwide : 25 USDPLEASE NOTE : I am living in FRANCE, so shipping is actually more expensive, but Ebay sets a maximum of 25 USD for "domestic" shipping, so I will carry the difference.
