Description: Antique Franklin Rotary Vintage Sewing Machine Made In Usa Mercury Electric. This listing is for a vintage Franklin Rotary electric sewing machine in the original case. This was an estate “rescue” item of sorts as it was obtained in non-working status and likely hadn’t been used for decades. I replaced the cord between the pedal and machine and wall outlet supply as the old cord was decaying. I then have it some light lubing and ran some test stitches after getting used to it’s operation. It stitched easily through poly/cotton dress shirts and also upholstery leather. The only issues left is that the rubber wheels are a little dry and the motor makes quite a bit of bearing noise, although it does operate pretty decent, I’d recommend going through the motor or replacing it. The case aesthetic leaves a little to be desired as the leatherette is pretty bad and the leather handle needs a replacement. Pictures show the condition accurately and measurements of the case are about 19” wide by 13-3/4” tall and 9-1/2” deep. Weight is somewhere near 40lbs I presume. The Greist box and accessories are included in the sale. Overall-for a machine that was likely built in the 40’s (or earlier if anyone can confirm-online info is pretty generic on these machines) that still has purpose. If you want to work with a machine that has stood the test of time pretty well, with almost no plastic in its construction-this would be great for you.
