Description: If you have a policeman in your life, how about this gorgeous and original Art Deco print in fabulous condition. The print entitled "L'agent fait parfois le bonheur" (Translation: the police officer sometimes brings happiness) is from the "La Vie Parisienne" magazine and dated 17th April 1920. "La Vie Parisienne" (the Parisian life) was a French weekly magazine founded in Paris in 1863 which was published without interruption until 1970. It was popular at the start of the 20th century. Originally it covered novels, sports, theatre, music and the arts. In 1905, the magazine changed hands and the new editor Charles Saglio changed its format to suit the modern reader. It soon evolved into a mildly risqué erotic publication. During World War I, General Pershing personally warned American servicemen against purchasing the magazine, which boosted its popularity in the United States. La Vie Parisienne was hugely successful because it combined a new mix of subjects (short stories, veiled gossip and fashion banter, also comments about subjects from love and the arts to the stock exchange) with beautiful cartoons and full-page colour illustrations by leading artists of the age. The reverse of the print is rather "risqué" for the time and is equally interesting. Measurements: 33cm H x 25.5cm W. A rare find, ready for framing! Please note: Collection is from Rickmansworth (Junction 17 or 18 of M25).I combine shipping whenever possible but please remember to request a total before processing payment through Paypal. If you have any questions, let me know.
