Here is the statement that originally went with the art in the gallery where it was first presented: "The artist, who shows a section of the cruelty life through maximal beautiful aesthetics on the surface, provide the viewer an experience of walking in between imagination and reality. James Jean, who created his own middle world by connecting dreams and real worlds endlessly, is still on his ETERNAL JOURNEY BTS and James Jean not only share their stories in the world utilizing different forms of art, but have several intersections between their works. In The Garden (2020), introduced through this exhibition, BTS members themselves become floral spirits flowing through a dreamscape. Through an environment where humans and nature harmonize, the members become beings that give new life through an unfurling of flowers. Surrounded by chrysanthemums, peonies, and lotuses that evoke birth, the image of the entire garden depicts the happiest and most beautiful moments in life just like a garden in bloom. As the flowers bloom and fall, they become beings that connect and bring continuity to the next generation. The seven spirits emerging from the flowers are the Moonchild (RM), Narcissus (Jin), MeowTide (SUGA), the Solaria (j-hope), Champignon (Jimin), Violane (V), and Cottontail (Jung Kook), welcoming us on journey into a beautiful and fantastic world. Art can be a stinging salt for the wounds in our lives, but it can also can be a warm comfort and a cure. The reason why we can embrace our wounds and survive through everyday struggles is because of the little consolations we encounter along life’s path. In this exhibition, 7 Phases, the two connected worlds of BTS and James Jean intersect and expand one another.
