Description: This is a unique and beautiful ceramic vase from the W. Germany company Carstens Tonnieshof. I believe that it was created in the 1960s-1970s. It is marked on the bottom with “199-15” “W. Germany” and a makers mark for the company (symbol with two houses). (See below for more information on the company.) Refer to the photographs for the colors of this gorgeous vase, (which I believe are true to the colors on the vase—but we know that monitors may display colors differently). The lovely light color of the vase appears to be white glaze over chocolate brown, which highlights the striking geometric raised relief shapes on the body of the vase. The interior has a smooth deep chocolate brown glaze. The vase displays the maker's raised stamp, along with the Model Number 199-15. Very good condition! I carefully examined this vase and found no cracks, chips, or crazing. There are a few pinhole spots in the glaze, which are firing errors (air bubbles) that happened at the time the vase was created. The vase is vintage, and as such, has been used. Any white spots that may look like chips in the photographs are simply light reflections or speckles in the glaze. The vase measures 6.25 inches high, 12.25 inches around the fattest part of the vase, and 2.5 inches across the opening. All of my items are from a smoke and pet free home. I examine my vintage items carefully and do my best to highlight any wear in my description and photographs. Please contact me if you have any questions prior to purchase. I ship by USPS. Carstens Tonnieshof history. The original company “Carstens Uffrecht” was founded by Jacob Uffrecht in 1845 in East Germany. After WWII, the Carstens family moved from East to West Germany and formed the company “Carstens Tonnieshof.” The company “Carstens Uffrecht” remaining in East Germany became the East German ceramics producer VEB Keramische Werke Haldensleben DDR (GDR), a state owned company. In 1990, after the reunification of Germany, the East German part of the company reverted to the Carstens family and became “Carstens Keramik Rheinsberg.”
