Description: Vintage brass souvenir building replica of the Church of the Assumption in Russia. It measures 3 3/8" tall x 2 1/2" deep x 1 7/8 wide. It dates to the 1950s as shown on its base. See plate # 529 in Monumental Miniatures for an idea of rarity and value. This model is in very good used condition and includes the cross over the entrance and the one in the rear. These are very fragile and often missing. Note however, that the top of the steeple is blunted and it appears that its central cross broke off at some point in its past. The bottom is covered with a green felt protective pad. The writing around its base is in Cyrillic. The actual church was located in the former village of Kondopoga, on the shores of Lake Onega Kondopozhskaya Bay on a promontory jutting into Chupa Bay. See archival photos of the actual church.
