Description: You will receive unrooted cuttings (quantity of your choosing), each approximately 5” long, from our Cuban Oregano growing in sunny Florida. Home grown naturally using regenerative growing methods with lots of love and zero chemicals, pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers. You will receive unrooted cuttings just like those in the first few photos. These cuttings are cut fresh to order and will be a combination of tip and stem cuttings. I strip most of the leaves and wrap the bottoms in wet paper towels to retain moisture and package them with great care for safe shipping. Cuban Oregano is very easy to grow from cutting, has thick succulent leaves, and strong oregano flavor. Growing Info & TipsCuban Oregano, also known as Mexican Mint and Indian Borage, is a powerful perennial herb with succulent like thick leaves. It is easy to grow from cuttings. It roots quite quickly, usually within a few weeks, and from there it will grow steadily and large enough that you will have a bountiful harvest from these cuttings within a year. It grows as a perennial in Zones 9a-11 and with frost protection and can be grown as an annual or in greenhouses in Zones 4+. I particularly love growing it as a yummy ground cover near the base of some of my fruit trees as part of my orchard floor. It grows well in part shade and likes well-drained soil. For Propagating the Cuttings:Please put the cuttings in small glass of water as soon as possible upon arrival. I recommend propagating them in water. Simply put the cuttings in a small mason jar or clear glass with water until they are a quarter to halfway submerged. Keep the jar in a sunny area and change the water often. After a few weeks roots will begin to form. It is normal for the stem cuttings to brown at the top end during this time, but don’t worry about hat as it will sprout it’s new growth from the node (where the little leaves are at the sides). Wait until you have a decent amount of roots before transferring to soil. You can then put them pots or in the ground, either way, keep them in partial shade and water them regularly until they are well established in the soil. You can also choose to propagate the cuttings directly in the soil (instead of in water)/ If doing so you might like to use a natural rooting hormone (like aloe or honey water) to help them along. Keep in partial shade and watered until established. Taste and PreparationCuban Oregano/ Mexican Mint/ Indian Borage leaves are thick and aromatic, with a crunchy texture and a strong flavor. The leaves smell so yummy when freshly crushed and chopped. Eaten raw the oregano taste is strong. I like to make tea with the leaves and also incorporate the leaves into cooked dishes like soups, chili’s and curries for a pop of flavor. Some enjoy the whole leaf fried and others like to incorporate the fresh leaf in a sofrito. Yummy! Please do your own research before using & consuming. Please Note: All of my cuttings are fresh and viable. Growing plants is fun! The majority of the time it is a success but sometimes it’s not. This just is the way it is with nature and gardening. I hope you experience success with all the cuttings, however because I am not there to plant them, I cannot be responsible for rooting failure due to improper planting or climate conditions etc. I do include a detailed note with planting advice with your order to help ensure your success. Shipping of Cuttings: I ship my cuttings via the Postal Service, USPS, as a First Class package with tracking. I will freshly cut the cuttings on the same day that i ship them to you. I will package them in a moist paper towel with great care to ensure safe delivery to you. These are fresh cuttings that will need to be planted upon their arrival to you.
