Included is a book mark from Lemuria Books in Jackson, MS, where presumably the book was purchased. Book is from an estate sale in Starkville, MS. Be Cool follows the further adventures of Chili Palmer (first introduced in the book and movie Get Shorty, played by John Travolta) in the Hollywood movie industry. Chili is a Miami loan-shark turned Hollywood big-shot who gets interested in the music business, acting for a female singer with a lot of soul. However, Chili tends to have too many ideas for movies and runs afoul of industry insiders in Leonard’s darkly satiric novel.
