Description: Forces of Valor Engine Plus Series 912131A M4A3(75)W Sherman Diecast Model US Army 10th Tank Btn, New York, 1943, w/1 Figure 1:32 Scale Length WidthM4A3(75)W Sherman 9.5" 3.5" The M4 Sherman was the primary tank produced by the United States for its own use and the use of its Allies during World War II. Production of the M4 medium tank exceeded 50,000 units, and its chassis served as the basis for numerous other armored vehicles such as tank destroyers, tank retrievers and self-propelled artillery. In the United Kingdom, the M4 was dubbed the Sherman after Union General William Tecumseh Sherman, following the British practice of naming its American-built tanks after famous American Civil War generals. Subsequently the British name found its way into common use in the US. Following WWII, the M4 medium tank was used by the US until the end of the Korean War. Many nations continued to use the tank in both training and combat roles into the late 20th century. Please note: An optional Metal Track Upgrade set is available separately to further increase the realism of this model. --> M4A3(75)W Sherman The pilot model of the M4 was completed in September 1941, and the Sherman became the most widely produced tank of the war. The M4 Sherman defeated heavier tanks with superior numbers, and by using outflanking tactics to strike thinner enemy flank armor. Shermans also achieved success with progressively upgunned models and by working with tank destroyers. The Sherman tank--named by the British--was fast, maneuverable, mechanically reliable, easy to manufacture, and effective in its infantry support role. It served with the US Army and Marines during World War II, and the US transferred large numbers to the United Kingdom and allied forces of many countries. Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc. Forces of Valor's 1:32 scale M4 Sherman tank is beautifully detailed-the top portion of the hull and turret are made of plastic, which gives the welding beads joining the hull's armor an authentic look and feel. Rear hatch opens to reveal finely detailed Chrysler A57 Multibank engine. The 360-degree rotating turret has two opening hatches and an elevating diecast metal cannon. A moveable machine gun mounted on top is included on some releases.
