The text on the back stickers has faded away. Some of the paint on the front has worn off. Simulated wood grain was not yet perfected when this item was manufactured. What is this thing anyway? This is a piece of television history. TVs were originally tunable to channels 2 through 13 in the VHF signal band. This was with a knob, a circle shaped thingie you turned by hand, not a set of buttons on a remote control *gasp* TVs were so expensive at the time that most folks bought a signal converter to have access to the new UHF channels full of low budget programming and syndicated reruns. And you thought the cable television concept was new… (The wire in the neighborhood and the soft shell prawn were new, the crappy programming was sadly not a first.) This saved a household from having to invest in a new television. We have TVs in every room of our houses and every thrift store, but there was a time when they were not a disposable commodity. Important note: Digital television is today’s standard in the USA, this is an analog device. I doubt it will work with the new signal standards. If you want something that works, digital TV receivers are plentiful, as are digital TVs. This is a novelty item of very little actual use these days beyond decoration or a curiosity on a shelf at your bar. Unimportant note: This converter is approved for color. No returns: I have no analog TVs (or digital TVs for that matter), nor an analog TV signal transmitter test it, so it is being sold as-is for parts.
