The base metal is Tumbaga, Which is alloy of copper, jewelers bronze, and sometimes silver. Tumbaga has been a favorite of silversmiths for centuries, due to its flexibility and suitability for hand engravings. All silver trim we offer is hand engraved and then caped/overlay with nickel. Do not confuse overlay with silver plating, which can peel and can be easily damaged with cleaning. Finally, all trim is coated with a tarnish preventive which last approximately a year depending environmental factors. All measurements are approximate and may vary, slightly. All Silver is hand engraved and engraving pattern may vary slightly depending on the craftsmen that is doing the engraving.
