Description: This vintage book, HEAD HUNTING IN THE SOLOMON ISLANDS: Around the Coral Sea, is by Caroline Mytinger, the adventurous artist/author who, in March 1926, “traveled to the Solomon Islands and Papua-New Guinea, with her childhood friend Margaret Warner. They only brought $400 between them, planning 'to support themselves by painting portraits of white colonials encountered along the way'” (from Wikipedia). It is a hard cover book with red cloth boards, 416 numbered pages and illustrated with black and white copies of the artist's paintings and drawings, it appears to be a first edition that was published by The Macmillan Company, New York, in 1942, and printed and bound in the United States of America. It is missing its dust jacket, it has some minor handling wear and a bookplate from the previous owner, otherwise, it is in very good vintage condition.
