Description: This sale is for one unrestored Heathkit model AA-171 tape recorder mono audio amplifier and control electronics with original manual in as-found, original unrestored condition. No parts are missing and there are no modifications. Very fine cosmetic condition but needs a detailed cleaning. Rare beast. I guess Heathit sold a tape deck with transport and electronics sold separately? The date on the manual is 1961. I seem to recall that a number of manufacturers did this--like Viking. This has no cabinet and I am thinking that it was probaby supposed to go in the cabinet with the transport. The circuits look pretty basic. In addition to the audo section, there is switching for controlling the transport--notice the 2-wire AC power socket in the center between the two circuit boards. This thing also has control over going between play and record. Very neat. No reserve.Buyer pays $8 fully-insured mailing and I pay the balance.
