Description: Original Indian War Era US M1880 Entrenching Tool w/Leather Scabbard - NICE Condition - RAREUp for sale is an Original Indian War Era US Model 1880 Entrenching Tool w/Leather Scabbard. This was one of the fist Entrenching Tools used by the US Army. It had a rounded spade type blade with a wooden handle and was stored in a leather covered metal scabbard. The handle is a turned wooden handle marked with a US at the base of the handle. No cracks or breaks in the handle. The blade is bright, but is discolored. There are a few minor spots of surface pitting. There are no markings or dates of the blade. The scabbard has a leather covered sheet metal body with a brass throat and a loop on the rear of the scabbard. The leather covering is US marked on the upper left corner, see photos. The leather has some cracking and crazing, see photos. These are somewhat RARE and difficult to find.
