Description: This is a deep red, fully polished piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber that contains a rare and unique insect graveyard consisting mainly of Mycetophilid Flies from the Cretaceous Period when dinosaurs including T-Rex and Triceratops still walked the Earth! Lots to see in this amber specimen.The piece itself weighs 1.3 grams with dimensions of 2.1 cm length by 1 cm width and 0.6 cm height. NOTE: 2.54 cm is 1 inch. Please see my feedback. I have been selling amber fossils for over 15 years on eBay and do not sell fake amber only genuine material from now extinct plant sources not glass or plastic embedded with present day inclusions.Burmese (Burmite) amber is difficult to acquire and has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs and is being mined in the Hukawng Valley in Myanmar (Burma).In December of 2016, a portion of the tail of a small dinosaur was reported in a piece of burmite amber, and in June of 2017, a nearly complete extinct bird was reported in this material!
