Description: Straight from our brass (and silver) instrument repair shop, our USED horns are brought back to life...All major dents are removed, joints re-soldered (if needed), patches repaired (if necessary) and the slides reworked. Our horns may be buffed, but all are hand polished to a good shine and are in good playable condition. For the collector who is looking for an instrument; we try to keep the original parts whenever possible; if the playability is good, we feel it should be left to the buyer's discretion to replace parts as desired. We are proud to offer this refurbished instrument for sale. We have tried to describe it as it is, and have shown what we can in the pictures allowed. We are happy to answer any questions asked. #60/2016 Up for sale is an antique Conn Silver Tenor Professional Trombone. The serial number on the horn is #898 which dates the horn somewhere manufactured in the very late 1800's. There is also the matching number 12 on both inner and outer slides. The horn has beautiful engraving for the age of the instrument: Made by CG CONN, Elkhart, Ind Worcester, Mass. (In 1887 Conn purchased Isaac Fiske's brass instrument manufactory in Worcester, Massachusetts upon Fiske's retirement. Fiske's operation was considered to be the best in its time. Conn operated it as a company subsidiary, and in this way he achieved his objectives. Conn phased out the Worcester operation (production was ceased in 1898). This has slide bore .450/.450, with a 7" diameter bell flare. It is made of brass silverplate and hand polished. There is some plating wear-through throughout and small scratches, waves and various dings. There is mild wear-through at the grips. The slide action is good for the age of the instrument and construction. There is good compression and minor wear on the stockings and tubes. This instrument is not lacquered; therefore, this instrument may have to be polished periodically (we recommend using Weiman METAL Polish). This trombone comes with a mouthpiece (may not be the one pictured) and a used case that is really only suitable for shipping purposes, it does not provide much protection for the horn and should be replaced. This horn is a nice playing old horn; it has good power, slots all right and has a nice tone. Overall, this is beautiful old instrument and is quite a nice example of a vintage player.
