Description: **I am liquidating my collection. While I am not giving my cards away, I will definitely consider all SERIOUS offers, so feel free to send an offer through. Please check out my over 200 listings. As items sell, new ones may be added on. Thank you.** This listing is for incredibly rare 1923 season card of All Time Great Lou Gehrig of the Yankees, when he was a Pitcher/First baseman for Columbia University. The printing company that issued these cards only made 200 of each! They did this due to the flooding of the market of millions of cards that really have little value by the major card companies. That makes each one of these cards about as rare a card as you can find. Now, you won't find these priced by Beckett, because there is no money in it for them. The value comes from knowing that you own a nice, and rare card from a player that you enjoyed watching. There is an "old school" design to these cards and the back of card commentary takes you back to times when it was fun to collect with biographical information about the player. A note about the card: Please note that while these cards are originals (and not reprints), they are also NOT made in the year the card depicts. These cards were created in the 00’s, with use of a real printing press, so they greatly differ from “custom cards” made on a home printer. The biggest difference is that cards made on a printing press like authentic baseball cards, the ink will not fade, whereas ink from a home computer will fade over time. With a few exceptions, only 200 were made of each card as print samples for the Monarch Corona Printing Company. An excerpt from a vintage card pricing guide: These cards have been given away over the years as printing samples and donated to charity auctions. Most of the images used are professionally colorized black & white photos, and the work is for the most part very nicely done. Because they are samples intended to generate printing sales, the cards feature various coatings and thicknesses. Of all of the modern cards created by hobbyists, the Monarch Corona cards are the most likely to become valuable collectibles in the future. This is due to the fact that their production runs are well-documented, designs are above average, subject matter is interesting, low numbers are produced, and a number of interesting subsets exist. Tribute cards like Monarch Coronas make it possible for a young collector with a limited budget to own rare cards of a great player. These cards are bringing kids back into the card hobby. I ship via USPS, and will combine shipping on up to 4 single cards. Just add the items to your cart, and request an invoice. Please check out my other listings for items you may like. Thank you.
