Description: New-Old-Stock Selle San Marco Rolls Saddle...Smooth White Cover and Gold Colored Accents...Cosmetic Blemishes Thank you for your interest in this item and please visit our store for other offerings. We have very reasonable shipping terms and combine orders to save money (for customers) on shipping costs. We also maintain customer friendly return/refund/exchange policies. Product Description: This offering is for a new-old-stock Selle San Marco Rolls saddle with a smooth white cover and gold colored accents. These saddles are as nice as any saddle offering we have sold through our store (although, please refer to cosmetic condition discussion below). The attention to detail is admirable, as the chromoly steel rails are gold plated and there are other gold colored accents around the saddle nose and to the rear of the saddle. These gold accents offer a nice contrast to the all white cover and are anchored to the hard nylon (saddle) shell with gold colored rivets. We've also noted (through some research) the padding is an extremely high density and while there is no depression at the center/top of the saddle for additional relief, the padding covers the entire saddle shell...wrapping around the rear and extending to the tip of the nose. Make no mistake...this is still a racing saddle...so there is not a heavy/thick layer of padding anywhere on the saddle, but the use of an extremely high density foam is designed to maximize comfort relative to other racing saddles in it's class. It's also worth noting the care taken to glue/anchor the padding to the saddle shell and the custom fitted cover. The workmanship is as good as anything we've seen in saddle craftsmanship, as the cemented padding and carefully stretched cover (over the padding) ensures a smooth cover surface that is free of any significant creases, loosely fitted areas or other irregularities that are sometimes identified in lesser saddles. Some additional specs/details include the following... Dimensions (Length x Width): 270 mm x 145 mm (with the latter measured from the widest point...near the back of the saddle) Weight: 356 grams (per our digital postal scale) Rail material: chromoly steel Rail width: 42 mm (see discussion that follows regarding rail width) Production date: April 2007 (Please also see below for further discussion.) Production locale: Made in Italy There has been some discussion concerning a re-launch of these saddles in recent years. We cannot find a press release from the company, but we believe the re-launch of these saddles was fairly recent (so within the last handful of years). I don't know that this makes a lot of difference to folks, as we are fairly certain the saddles currently made are equivalent to our older stock offerings, but we still wanted to make the distinction that our newest Rolls saddles have a production date from the first half of 2007 (and some are dated back to the 90's)...so we believe this places our offerings on a timeline that pre-dates the re-introduction of these saddles at a later date. Again, the functional significance of this distinction is probably minimal, but we still wanted to be clear as to the date coding on the Rolls saddles we currently have in stock. These saddles are not retail boxed, but they do come in a thin plastic bag (that was sealed before I removed the saddle for pictures) and then wrapped in a fairly heavy wax coated paper bag (at least this is the best we can describe this outer layer of packing). Regardless, they have been packaged/protected well over the years. As a result, we do not see any scuffs/cuts that puncture through the saddle cover. Sometimes I will see scuffs in the cover, but nothing that punctures entirely through the cover. Although, I can also confirm we are now taking pictures of each of these saddles as we near the end of our stocks because we are seeing other blemishes. To this end, I have taken some close-up pictures of this offering to better illustrate some of the cosmetic imperfections in the white cover (that were possibly there from the factory). There are a few areas where I am seeing some gray marks that are honestly not showing up as well in the pictures compared to what I see in person (and just want to be honest here). These marks may actually be white color dye imperfections...where this color dye was not applied as evenly/generously during the finishing process of the cover at the factory. As I look over this saddle cover, these blotchy-like gray marks are visible in various areas of the saddle cover, but maybe a little more prevalent towards the rear of the saddle (and a few marks at the nose). Again, I've tried to take some close-ups of these marks, but they don't always show up as well in the pictures. Next, I will usually see some dried glue that is brown in color on these covers. Lastly, I see some light yellowing of the cover material down around the saddle edges (simply from the 15+ years of storage time). The latter is also not showing up in the pictures, but I am seeing some faint yellowing and mention it (so no one is disappointed). So in the end, this saddle has some cosmetic cover blemishes, but I do want to confirm the saddle is functionally intact and new. The cover fit over the high density foam padding and shell is still first quality snug...so it's just the cosmetic cover blemishes that I want to bring to folks attention when considering this offering. A note about rail width... We have always assumed saddle rail widths were relatively standard...44 mm for a standard road/mtb saddle and 30 mm for a track saddle (center-to-center measurements). However, we are beginning to understand there is some variability concerning saddle rail widths that we would have expected to measure 44 mm. The variations are not significant...maybe +/- 3 mm from the 44 mm expected width...and we realize there is some flex to saddle rails...but the variations may still make installation a chore at times. For this reason, we are now providing a center-to-center rail width measurement on our saddles. Note to international customers regarding shipping... We apologize to those that feel some of our international shipping charges are too high. We only charge actual shipping rates, but once an order exceeds a certain amount, we hesitate to use the least expensive US Postal Services First Class International service. We feel this way, because this service is not trackable or insurable...so more risk of loss. We prefer the US Postal Services Priority Mail International service for more expensive orders, because this service is trackable at USPS.com and insurable...so less risk of loss. Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case. Note to international customers regarding customs... We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs' laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collected upon delivery. Again, we apologize for these additional costs, but we cannot afford the penalties and fines that come with breaking customs' laws...so we have to strictly abide by them.
