The map is titled "Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg und Freie Städte Hamburg und Lübeck" in the upper margin and was published in Andrees Allgemeiner Handatlas by Velhagen and Klasing, Bielefeld and Leipzig, Germany, 1896. The map is drawn on a scale of 1:750,000, and the image area measures 37.5 x 52.5 cm [14¾" x 20¾"], with generous margins on all sides. Details include cities, towns, railroads, postal roads, steamship and ferry routes, and natural features. The coverage area extends from Helgoland to Rügen and Uckermark, and there aremany hundreds of place names, including Flensburg, Moen, Kiel, Wismar, Altona, Neumünster, Kaiser Wilhelm Canal, Laaland, and the Elbe River. There are inset plans of the Hamburg area and the archipelago of Helgoland, which had been transferred from Britain to Germany six years before this map was printed, in exchange for Zanzibar and other African territories. Condition: This map is in excellent condition, bright and clean, printed on a heavy paper stock, with a vertical center fold, as issued, and no marks, rips, or tears.
