Description: For sale is a nice pair of 1862 & 1863 Indian Head Cents. Indian Head Cents were minted 1859 to 1909 before being replaced by the Lincoln Wheat Cent. It changed design and metal composition a couple times making it a very interesting coin. What makes this coin pair so desirable are these two coins are among the first 5 years of issue for Indian Head Cents. The coins are made of copper-nickel rather than the copper Cents we're used to, making it heavier and thicker than most cents. As you can see from the pics the coins are in very good shape, and both would come in at nice VG grades. The 1863 has a nice golden-brown patina which is classic with copper-nickel Indian Heads, and the 1862 has a darker toned patina to it. The dates and all lettering are nice and bold. Both coins have typical scratches and contact marks, but both coins do have some environmental exposure to them, which is what gives it that blotchy look. That is very typical of older pure copper coins. The price of the pair was reduced nicely to the exposure. This is a great early key date coin pair at a low price. Thanks!
