Description: This is a figure that features one of my favorite western movie characters, Matthew Quigley portrayed by Tom Selleck (great in any role he played) in the movie, Quigley Down Under. Quigley is a sharpshooter with a specially modified 1874 Sharps rifle fitted with a Vernier sight calibrated to 1200 feet ("this one shoots a mite farther"). Quigley answers a newspaper advertisement from Australia wanting to hire someone with his special talents. He sends a copy of the ad back- "M. Quigley 900 yds" with six well grouped bullet holes. When Quigley arrives in Australia, he gets into an altercation with some fellows that are fighting to get a woman named "Crazy Cora" (played by Laura San Giacomo) on their wagon to take back to their ranch to be a "ranch girl". Quigley comes to Cora's aid. During the fight Quigley discovers that these are the men sent to pick him up at the docks. Quigley and Cora have a chance to get acquainted on the trip to his future employer. After a few days of traveling the group arrives at the large ranching operation of Elliot Marston (played by Alan Rickman). Quigley gets the $50.00 in gold promised for just showing up. He then demonstrates his prowess as a long range sharpshooter. Marsten invites Quigley to freshen up from his trip and to join him at supper where they can talk business. Quigley wants to talk about Cora as well, Marsten agrees. Over dinner Quigley finds out that Marsten favors a Colt six-shooter for his weapon of choise to which Quigley replies - "I never had much use for one". After dinner, drinks, and a cigar Quigley finds out that Marsten wants to hire hm to exterminate the local aborigines from the area. I won't tell the whole story here but lets just say Quigley abruptly resigns...... this movie is a good one for the western fan or someone that just likes a good story. There is also one of the best endings I have ever seen in a movie. If you have not seen this movie check it out. You can sometimes catch this movie on one of the streaming services or tv channels that show old westerns. While the figure does not look exactly like Tom Selleck / Matthew Quigley there is a nice resemblance. This piece is built more for display and not for play. This is a nice item for the western movie fan. This would make a nice addition to any collection. stand included. the metal Sharps rifle with Vernier sight is by stevos. the felt hat is by Giffin. sold as is. Please note the following-when a figure is a custom figure that means it is not a licensed product,or "official" but something the customizer did by combining figures and accessories from different makers and toy releases to come up with the custom figure or figures. I started customizing figures a few years back because I couldn't find more than a handful of "official" releases and unable to find figures of people I wanted to collect. I checked in to the market of custom figures. Most of the custom figures available back then cost several hundred dollars, so, I started doing my own. Because I needed to support my new hobby, I started selling some custom figures. My prices reflect my acquisition cost, time involved, and some profit. Thanks for the look, have fun shopping!Shipping and Handling as follows: Domestic-priority- $15.00 1st item, $8.00 each additional item. items are normally shipped out within a day or two of cleared payment.
