Vintage Bows Volume III

Description: 09/21/22 Update. Friends, I've been retired from bow repair and unable to attend many 3D shoots for some time now as I care for my wife's illness. I now try and keep a small inventory of the books here at home, and those purchasing all three books are immediately refunded the excess mail cost that e-Bay auto-adds when ordering all three. Thanks for the many positive comments and feedback. It is appreciated. Rick

yorktown5 Store

When I finished writing Vintage Bows II, I mentioned that new information on vintage bows and their makers was continuing to arrive, but that I just had to stop someplace. That was two years ago already! That long in the writing, Vintage Bows volume III takes up where V-II left off, and I'm pleased to offer what I believe is never before assembled information, particularly on the Post-WW2 bows of Browning, Cravotta Bros. Blackhawks, Ben Pearson, Ernie Root and Shakespeare. Vintage Bows volume I remains as an introduction to the fun of traditional archery with enough background for the novice to understand archery basics and the terms needed for "bow-talk". Volume II goes into depth on the various production bow makers, bow types, collecting tips and specifics of interest to anyone wishing to take our hobby further. Vintage Bows III adds what we didn't know just two years ago, and there are some surprises as to who really made which vintage bows. Larry Vienneau (the creator of the Shakespeare/Root blogsite) contributed a chapter on Shakespeare bows including what I think is the first ever listing of each model, variations and year of Shakespeare bows produced. Larry Root, son of master bowyer and designer of the Root and Shakespeare bows Ernie Root, has come forth with new information on those brands as well. There is a similar listing for Brownings, and as much as I could glean on the same from old catalogs on Pearsons. 18 Chapters with over 100 photos, I wish I could produce the books with color interiors instead of full color covers only, but single volume print-on-demand makes that option cost prohibitive. The shown photos are from the .pdf version of the books (available elsewhere) should you wish to see all the colors. Books are usually printed and mailed directly from the printer who adds a handling fee. My thanks to those past customers who ordered and paid full shipping costs, but should you wish to order multiple copies or one of the other volumes of Vintage Bows, just make the purchases, BUT DON'T PAY until I can send a combined invoice with reduced mail cost. I'm back in for this edit to also allow international mailing. Now that the US Postal Service provides tracking, USPS First Class mail will be the shipping choice unless otherwise specified. PS. As I was typing this, the first draft copy of Volume III arrived, and my wife, "Bubette the Bowster" commented I had no photos of her in the book. So I used photo 12 for penance. Ha! This'll make her day. Love you honey. Rick
