The unusual white or lavender flower spikes with their funny 'whisker' like stamens are a good source of nectar for butterflies and hummingbirds. The growth habit is shrub like and open, reaching mature heights of 2 to 3 feet. The unique flowers appear on new growth as soon as the night time temps begin to warm and the days get a bit longer. It is versatile and works well as a mass planting, as part of mixed perennial beds, or as a potted plant.
